Summer Reading Kickoff

Monday, June 4th at 10:00 am

The summer will kick off with Storyteller Rosie Cutrer  at St. Bernard’s Parish Hall.  She is guaranteed to get us in the mood for campfires, stargazing, sleepovers, and dreams.

Rosie Cutrer, a storyteller from Topeka, Kansas, has been telling stories professionally for the past fifteen  years, presenting at festivals, schools, libraries and museums.  In the past few years she has been invited to perform at: the Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival,  the Kansas Storytelling Festival,The Land Run Festival in Choctaw, Oklahoma, the Homestead National Monument in Beatrice, Nebraska and was a featured teller at the Kearney Area Storytelling Festival in 2011. In October of 2010 she made a storytelling tour of Ireland telling in schools and libraries in County Wexford and in County Antrim, Northern Ireland

 

The Children’s Summer Reading Program

Children’s Summer Reading will be running from June 5th thru July 26th.

Adult Craft Class: Ink Stained Coasters

Monday, June 18th @ 6pm

In a simple, colorful and inexpensive craft class, Chris Olsen will be showing how to make a set of four coasters out of tiles, felt and ink. Refreshments will be provided.

Cost is $3 per set of four.

Registration is required by Thursday June 14th by calling 456-9181 or by stopping by the Front Desk.

Afternoon Book Club

Wednesday, June 20th @ Noon

The Afternoon Book Club will meet to discuss Possession by A.S. Byatt. Refreshments will be provided.

Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at noon. New members are always welcome to attend!

Books are available to pick up at the front desk.

Notice: There will be no Afternoon Book Club in July or August. We will start back up in September.

Youth Services Job Opening

R.E.A.D. to Dogs

Saturday, June 23rd 11-12pm

Read to a therapy dog at your library!

R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers, as reading companions for children. We have two dogs coming, first-come-first-serve on 15 minutes time slots from 11-12pm.

The Spring DVD Drive

Donate any new or used DVDs during the Spring and receive $1 per DVD donated as a credit on your library account.  Credit can be used to pay off library fines or to purchase items from our Book Sale.

DVDs must have their cases. Limit of 10 DVDs per account.
